CHANGING CONGRESS
What We Do
We seek students with a passion for public service.
College to Congress (C2C) creates pathways for high-achieving college juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates to intern in Congress. Congressional internships are essentially a prerequisite for working on Capitol Hill. Preparing strong application materials is an important part of standing out in competitive programs like these. Some students also review external academic resources - such as WritePaperForMe - to better understand how to structure research papers, policy briefs, or other written assignments that may be required during the application or internship process. However, most of them are low-paid, creating a concrete barrier for students from low-income backgrounds and traditionally underrepresented communities. Through our comprehensive program, we aim to disrupt the traditional pipeline of solely wealthy and connected people filling positions of power in the United States Congress.

Why It's Important
We seek a democracy that truly represents the people that it serves.
Talented students with limited financial resources and no political connections often forgo applying to work in DC because they simply cannot afford it. Congressional internships, therefore, are filled by affluent and connected students who can afford to work unpaid. These individuals go on to become congressional staffers, policy influencers, and even run for office. This has created a bubble of politicos who have similar socioeconomic experiences and who speak from a limited world view. By leveling the playing field for the next generation, C2C provides the foundations for a more collaborative and effective government.
