Congressional Program Coordinator

Overall Job Purpose

The Congressional Program Coordinator will take on a hybrid role that focuses on implementation of our summer program while building congressional relationships in order to grow C2C’s Congressional Host Committee. This person will be responsible for managing and executing C2C’s program mission by working directly with stakeholders, such as our 15+ congressional interns, congressional offices, and political speakers. This role offers a total immersion into a startup, nonprofit organization. The Coordinator will be instrumental in increasing our organization’s programming and overall development.

Reports To: Program Director & Director of Operations

Key Duties and Expectations

Congressional Relations

  • Outreach to political speakers, hill staff, and corporate sponsors to assist in building the Leadership Series

  • Engage with current Congressional Offices on our Honorary Host Committee

  • Recruit new offices to join the Congressional Host Committee

  • Build relationships with current and new congressional staff to promote more opportunities for C2C alumni to receive full-time job offers on the hill

Program Coordination

  • Recruit mentors for the Bipartisan Ally Program, and assist with pairing mentors and students

  • Take photos of various C2C events and create engaging content for the monthly newsletter & social media

  • Be available to be contacted by interns for questions, emergencies, and general coordination

  • Support the planning and execution of professional and leadership events

  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with the C2C internal programming team to discuss business optimization ideas

  • Keep updated records and create reports or proposals

  • Assist with various projects as they arise

  • Support program-related efforts by assisting with materials and briefings prior to meetings

  • Distill information into executive-level summaries which are understandable and useful for decision makers


  • Strong written and verbal communications and an ability to be the congressional liaison on behalf of the organization

  • Experience on Capitol Hill

  • Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office/Google Suites

  • Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams

  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills

  • Detail-oriented and efficient

Director of Operations

Overall Job Purpose

As the Director of Operations, you will develop, direct and oversee all of C2C’s operational policies, initiatives and goals.

Key Duties and Expectations

  • Work in partnership with the founder and CEO – as well as the full team – to implement the new strategic plan

  • Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals

  • Measure effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes and continually explore how to improve systems, including human resources, accounting and IT  

  • Oversee implementation of growth strategies

  • Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence, managing a team of young growing conscientious and creative people, to include weekly check-ins and semi-annual evaluations, and ensure they feel valued and tracking towards goals

  • Recruit, onboard and retain a talented team of individuals as the organization grows

  • Upgrade human resource functions including training, development, performance evaluation and recruiting

  • Review, revise and approve all C2C contracts

  • Oversee and manage all contractors and external vendors

  • Promote communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow

  • Oversee and approve all external communication messages to outside audiences

  • Implement an accounting system that provides C2C with quick access to financial information that enables strategic budgeting and payroll practices  

  • Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of information technology and financial systems that support the growth of C2C

    • Develop and implement a system for reporting, measurement and support of revenue generation

  • Review and revise all insurance plans for the organization to ensure C2C is adequately covered

  • Develop a detailed implementation plan on an annual basis

  • Serve as the liaison for the Board of Directors, and oversee logistics for all board meetings

Minimun Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 5-7 years of related professional experience, preferably on Capitol Hill.  

Required Competencies:

  • Intimate knowledge of Capitol Hill

  • Prior management and oversight of program and/or entities that are positioned to grow quickly

  • Prior experience supervising employees and helping them develop new skills

  • Self-motivated, and able to direct work with minimal supervision

  • Adaptable to an ever-changing environment

  • Passionate about ensuring our Democracy is truly reflective of the people it serves

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the nonprofit sector and/or start-ups, Capitol Hill, Military

  • Ability to understand and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including interns, funders, schools/universities, partners, and members of Congress


  • Great listener. You take the time to learn what's valuable and important to others. You confidently engage with all stakeholders to define needs and expectations. You are approachable and responsive.

  • A salary range of $70,000 - $85,000 DOQ, full health benefits, and unlimited vacation
